“This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.” 1 John 4:9 (NIV)
Family is at the centre of God’s plan for the happiness and progress of His children. It is the fundamental building block of strong societies. Families are where we can feel love and learn how to love others. The Holy Bible teaches that God established families from the very beginning as in the case of Adam and Eve. God blessed and encouraged families, commanding Adam and Eve to “be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth” (Genesis 1:28). In the same way, God has ordained your family and mine and has bestowed upon us endless blessings.
You might be saying, “God doesn’t love my family; my family is dysfunctional”.
Now, no family is perfect. Often, we end up learning just as much about God by the ache in our hearts when family fails us. The hurt we feel shows us that whatever it is we have experienced is not the intended design of family and does not represent the way God loves us. Even the broken aspects of the family can point us to our Father. All we need to do is acknowledge His love for our families and continue to be fruitful and multiply that same love to our family members.
Today, place God at the centre, for when we place God squarely in the centre of our family’s life, when we worship Him, praise Him, trust Him, and love Him, then He will most certainly bless us in ways that we could scarcely imagine. Let’s allow God’s love to prevail in our family.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving my family with an everlasting love. Help us to know You better and love You more. Teach us how to build solid relationships with each other and other families. Show us how to walk with You daily, listen to Your voice, and follow where You lead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
